LMS Generation Pty Ltd

LMS Generation Pty Ltd (LMS)

LMS is a specialist landfill gas and power generation company. In 1982 the company pioneered the collection and conversion of landfill gas to energy in Australia. Having invested extensive resources in the on-going development of intellectual property for landfill gas management and power generation, LMS technologies are now utilised throughout the world.

LMS were the first company in Australia to trade carbon credits from the combustion of landfill gas, and manufacture the only landfill gas flare in Australia that has been approved for use in the sale of carbon credits.

With over 8 years experience and involvement in the carbon credit market in Australia, there exists no other company with the insights into this expanding industry. LMS continue to work closely with the major players in this industry to ensure that supply of abatement can meet the growing demand and have contracts in place with major corporations.

The Shoal Bay waste disposal site, from which the carbon credits for Outback Offsets were purchased, services the Darwin area providing safe and environmentally friendly disposal of domestic and commercial waste. The mitigation of green house emissions is an important step in ensuring the disposal of Darwin's waste has the lowest possible impact on the environment.

This significant environmental project generates 9,000 megawatt hours of baseload renewable electricity per year which is enough to power an average 1,800 homes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and is the first of its kind in the Northern Territory. Methane gas produced naturally by the decomposition of organic waste at the Shoal Bay Waste Disposal facility is collected and utilised to generate renewable energy, resulting in the reduction of approximately 35,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e) each year.

Under the Australian Greenhouse Office, Greenhouse Friendly Program, LMS have generated over 1,000,000 tonnes of abatement to date.

LMS are also currently progressing carbon credit trading off shore through the Kyoto based Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) framework. LMS are one of Australia’s most knowledgeable emissions trading company’s having already provided a significant contribution to world trades.
